Terms · of use
The terms, short.
These terms cover this website — platouniversity.org — during the project's pre-launch phase. Nothing on this site is an offer of enrollment. If and when the full one-year program runs, separate written terms will be issued to participants.
By using platouniversity.org — reading, browsing, submitting the inquiry form — you agree to the terms below. If you don't agree, don't use the site. It's that simple.
Who "we" are
These terms are between you and Jesse Gonzalez, a Dutch sole trader (eenmanszaak) registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under KvK number 70565783, who currently operates the Plato University project from Amsterdam. In these terms, "we," "us," and "Plato University" refer to that operator. You can reach us at hello@platouniversity.org.
What this site is, and isn't
This site describes a project we are building: a one-year academy for the AI era. In September 2026, we begin with a small first month in Amsterdam — a founding gathering to meet the people who will help shape the full year. Everything you read here — the vision, the reading plan, the timeline, the pricing framing — is a statement of intent. We believe it. We're going to do our best to deliver it. Projects of this kind change shape during the work. Some details will, too.
Nothing on this site constitutes an offer of enrollment, a contract of education, or a guarantee that the first month or the one-year program will run at the described dates or prices. Any binding relationship — whether for the September gathering or a later program — begins only when a participant has been invited and has accepted separate, written terms for that specific engagement.
We reserve the right to change the content of this site, the program's structure, the reading plan, the group size, the locations, and the timeline, without prior notice. Material changes that affect people who have written to us will be communicated directly.
Using the inquiry form
When you submit the inquiry form, you're starting a conversation, not enrolling. Specifically:
- Submitting the form does not reserve a seat or guarantee a reply.
- We will use the information you provide only to reply to you and, if you opted in, to email you occasional updates. See the privacy policy for details.
- Please only submit information that is yours to submit. Don't submit anyone else's personal data without their consent.
- Please don't use the form to send harassment, threats, illegal content, or spam. We will ignore, block, or report such messages as we see fit.
Our content
The writing, design, and other original content on this site are ours, or used with permission. You may:
- Read it, share it, and link to it freely.
- Quote short passages, with attribution, for commentary and criticism.
You may not:
- Republish the site's content in bulk, or pass it off as your own.
- Scrape the site to train a commercial model without our written permission.
- Use our name, word mark, or logo in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation without asking first.
Where we quote or excerpt others — the philosophers and writers on our reading list, for example — those excerpts are presented under fair-use / citation principles and remain the intellectual property of their authors and publishers.
Third-party services and links
The site relies on third-party services — notably Formspree (for the inquiry form) and Vercel (for hosting). Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, and your use of the site touches theirs. We list them in our privacy policy.
We sometimes link to other sites — a book, a thinker, a city partner. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for what they do.
Availability, accuracy, and warranties
We'd like the site to be up all the time and perfectly accurate. In practice, it will sometimes be down, occasionally wrong, and always a work in progress. The site is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind beyond those that cannot be excluded under Dutch consumer law.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of this site. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death, personal injury caused by our negligence, or anything else that cannot be limited under the law applicable to you.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the project evolves. The effective date at the top of the page will always reflect the current version. Material changes will be flagged here.
If the legal structure of the project changes — for example, if we re-form as a stichting or cooperative — we'll update these terms and the privacy policy accordingly.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by talking will be submitted to the competent courts of Amsterdam, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights available to you under the law of the country where you live.
